Signatrol ltd. has introduced a new quick response, low cost temperature data logger specifically designed to meet the daily requirements of bench-top autoclave validation.
The kit comprises of a SL55T-D data-logger, a blue, hard anodised aluminium enclosure, a stainless steel support frame, a USB interface lead and the Verifier software.
The data logger is configured from a PC running the bespoke Verifier software and is then inserted in the enclosure. The whole assembly is then placed inside the autoclave and a validation cycle performed. At the end of the cycle the logger is retrieved and connected to the PC where the temperature vs time record can be immediately displayed both graphically and in tabular format. The readings are stored in encrypted form that cannot be altered by ordinary means and therefore forms a permanent inviolate record. Markers on the graph can easily be positioned at the start and end of the sterilisation temperature (normally 134°C) and the time over this temperature can easily be read off and the software will automatically indicate if the measured cycle passes or fails the test
Response Time Correction
All sensors take time to respond and the more mass you surround them with, the slower the response time.
Often this is of no significance as the response time of the measuring system is significantly faster than the rate of change of the environment it it measuring.
Unfortunately, the response time of the measuring system can occasionally be such that the environment appears to respond less quickly than it actually does. This is especially important with the SL55T-D when used inside the SL50-ACC10 enclosure for fast cycle autoclave validation, as the increased response time can effect the display of the time the environment remains at its sterilisation temperature making it appear shorter than it actually is and hence causing the validation to fail.
Fortunately the response time of the SL50-ACC10 is a known constant and therefore it can be corrected for electronically. Make sure you tick the 'Perform SL50 Response Correction' tick box in the configuration > Device screen to enable this feature.
